Born and raised in Minnesota, Amanda Yang is a first-generation Hmong American Singer-Songwriter who began her global music career at age 15. She initially showcased her abilities through YouTube videos of acoustic covers and rewrites of popular songs. Drawing inspiration from R&B soul, pop and dance/electronic genres, she approaches songwriting with an open heart and mind. Her musical influences range from Bruno Mars, Jason Mraz, Alessia Cara, Imagine Dragons, The Lumineers and Julia Michaels. Amanda Yang continues to mold each song into her own unique blend and sound.
The self-taught, alt-pop singer-songwriter has collaborated with over 20 artists from all over the world including: Lucian, Coopex, AmPm, Marin Hoxha and KLON. Currently independent, she has previously partnered with organizations including: FRTYFVE, Double J Music, Magic Music, Universal Music Group and Warner Music.
When she uploaded her first YouTube video in 2011 all Amanda Yang wanted was to connect with others. With support from Spotify’s own curated playlists, her original songs and acoustic covers have been featured on: New Music Friday, Jasmine, Dope AF, Beast Mode Dance, Friday Cratediggers, Acoustic Favorites, Acoustic Throwbacks and more. Now amassing over 135 million streams on Spotify, she owes all her success to listeners who have given her a platform to speak her mind and help others find a place to vent, heal, and love through her music.
